160 Tiles Club / Governance
Terms of Service
Welcome to 160 Tiles Club.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you access our website, register for or attend our events, classes, competitions or other activities, use our services, or otherwise interact with 160 Tiles Club through our official platforms.
By making a booking, registering for an activity, attending a Club Event, or using our services, you agree to these Terms and any additional terms, rules or policies that apply to the relevant activity.
Please read them carefully.
1. ABOUT 160 TILES CLUB#
160 Tiles Club (“160 Tiles Club”, “160”, “the Club”, “we”, “us” or “our”) organises mahjong events, classes, social play, organised play and related community activities.
For questions about these Terms, bookings or our services, you may contact us at frontdesk@160tiles.com.
Our activities may take place at venues operated by third parties.
References in these Terms to a “Club Event” include events, classes, workshops, organised play sessions and other activities organised or administered by 160 Tiles Club.
“Event Premises” means the areas of a venue being used for a Club Event and reasonably under the Club’s or venue operator’s control for that activity.
Our Code of Conduct, Privacy Policy, event-specific booking conditions and any applicable play rules form part of the rules governing your participation.
2. NATURE OF OUR ACTIVITIES#
160 Tiles Club organises mahjong for recreational, social and educational purposes, including organised play.
Depending on the event, participation may involve:
- casual or organised play;
- teaching and supervised play;
- structured table assignments or rotations; and
- gameplay scoring or recording where applicable.
Participants are welcome to play seriously, strategically and competitively within the applicable rules of play.
Competitive play does not excuse poor conduct. All participants are expected to play in good faith and demonstrate good sportsmanship in accordance with our Code of Conduct.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, registration for an event does not guarantee any particular table, seat, opponent, instructor, partner or game format.
Table assignments, rotations, queues and playing arrangements may be adjusted as reasonably necessary for event operations.
3. STRICT NO-GAMBLING POLICY#
3.1 No gambling at Club Events#
Gambling is strictly prohibited at all 160 Tiles Club events and Event Premises.
Participants must not wager, stake or exchange money, cryptocurrency, property, credits, redeemable chips or tokens, or anything else of monetary value based on the outcome of a game, hand, round, match or other activity conducted at a Club Event.
This includes side bets between participants.
3.2 No settlement or facilitation#
Participants must not use a Club Event, Event Premises, Club platform or official Club communication channel to:
- collect or settle gambling debts;
- arrange or facilitate wagers connected to Club games;
- solicit participants for gambling connected to games taking place at the event;
- advertise or operate cash games; or
- otherwise convert Club gameplay into gambling.
3.3 Gameplay points have no monetary value#
Scores, points, counters, chips or other game components used by the Club solely for gameplay or event administration are not money.
They:
- exist solely for gameplay, scoring, or event administration;
- have no cash or redemption value;
- cannot be bought from or sold to another participant as a representation of game value;
- cannot be exchanged for money, property, credit or anything else of monetary value; and
- must not be used to settle a wager.
For avoidance of doubt, ordinary scoring transfers between players within a mahjong scoring system are gameplay mechanics only.
3.4 Entry fees are not stakes#
Fees paid to 160 Tiles Club are charges for admission, participation, instruction, services or event administration, as applicable. They are not stakes placed on the outcome of a mahjong game.
3.5 Private activities#
160 Tiles Club generally does not monitor or regulate participants’ lawful private conversations or lawful private activities outside Club Events and Club-operated platforms.
However, private or external conduct may still be considered where it directly and materially affects:
- the safety of Club participants;
- harassment or threats involving Club participants;
- fraud involving the Club;
- the integrity or fairness of Club games or activities
- prohibited gambling conducted or solicited through Club activities; or
- the safe and proper operation of a Club Event.
Our no-gambling policy therefore governs what happens within and through Club activities, rather than attempting to police participants’ private lives.
4. ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION#
You must provide accurate and reasonably complete information when registering for a Club activity.
You must not:
- register using a false identity;
- deliberately provide misleading contact or payment information;
- impersonate another person;
- make fraudulent or intentionally duplicate bookings;
- interfere with booking limits or capacity controls; or
- use automated or other methods intended to unfairly obtain places at limited-capacity events.
Where a booking includes other participants, the person making the booking is responsible for providing accurate booking information and for ensuring that those participants are made aware of any applicable event requirements.
4.1 Participants under 18#
Participants under 18 may attend specified events with the consent and/or supervision of a parent or legal guardian, subject to event-specific requirements.
Certain events or activities may have additional age or eligibility requirements, which will be stated in the applicable event information.
5. BOOKINGS AND CONFIRMATION#
A registration submission does not necessarily guarantee admission.
Your booking status is the status communicated through our booking system or confirmation communications.
Depending on the event, confirmation may be subject to:
- availability;
- capacity;
- successful payment;
- payment verification;
- eligibility requirements;
- event-specific requirements; and
- correction of genuine booking, pricing or configuration errors.
We may reject or cancel registrations where we reasonably believe that a booking is fraudulent, intentionally duplicated, made using false information, contrary to an event’s eligibility requirements, or affected by an obvious technical, pricing or configuration error.
Where practical, we will contact the affected participant before cancellation or provide an explanation afterwards.
6. PAYMENTS AND PAYMENT VERIFICATION#
6.1 Payment instructions#
Where payment is required, participants must follow the payment instructions provided for the relevant booking.
The amount payable will normally be the amount shown in the booking summary or otherwise communicated by the Club.
6.2 Payment evidence#
Where we ask you to upload a receipt, transfer confirmation or other payment evidence, you must provide genuine and accurate evidence relating to the relevant payment.
Uploading payment evidence, or receiving an automated acknowledgement that it was uploaded, does not by itself mean that the payment has been verified or finally accepted.
6.3 Verification#
We may reasonably review payment evidence before or after confirming a booking.
We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to verify a payment.
We may reject payment evidence or cancel a booking where there are reasonable grounds to believe that:
- the evidence has been altered or falsified;
- the same payment evidence has been improperly used for multiple bookings;
- the payment does not correspond with the required amount;
- the payment reference or transaction cannot reasonably be matched to the booking;
- the evidence is incomplete or materially inconsistent;
- a payment has been reversed, disputed or charged back;
- the participant does not provide reasonably requested verification information; or
- there are other reasonable grounds to suspect payment fraud or non-payment.
We will not cancel a booking merely because a receipt looks unusual where the underlying payment can reasonably be verified.
6.4 Payment errors#
If an obvious pricing, payment or booking configuration error occurs, we may correct the error and contact affected participants.
If you have already paid and cannot reasonably accept the corrected price or arrangement, the applicable refund or cancellation policy will apply.
7. CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS, TRANSFERS AND NO-SHOWS#
The cancellation and refund conditions applicable to a booking may also be stated on the relevant event page or during checkout.
Event-specific conditions may vary depending on venue commitments, event format, ticket type and other operational requirements.
The applicable conditions will be presented before or at the time of booking where reasonably practicable.
7.1 Participant cancellation#
To request cancellation, participants must email frontdesk@160tiles.com.
Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled start of the relevant session or event may be eligible for a refund, less any non-refundable administrative or payment processing fees.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled start are non-refundable.
Participants who cancel after the applicable refund deadline will be treated in the same manner as a no-show unless otherwise stated in the event-specific booking conditions.
Club credit is not currently offered as a standard alternative to a refund.
7.2 Booking transfers#
Bookings are not automatically transferable.
Where time and operational circumstances permit, we may allow a participant to transfer a booking to another person on a case-by-case basis.
Participants requesting a transfer must contact frontdesk@160tiles.com as soon as reasonably possible.
A transfer is not effective unless confirmed by the Club.
If we cannot reasonably facilitate the transfer before the relevant event or session, the original booking remains subject to the applicable cancellation and no-show conditions.
7.3 No-shows#
Participants who fail to attend without cancelling within the applicable cancellation period may forfeit their booking fee, subject to applicable law and the event-specific booking conditions.
7.4 Late arrival#
There is no general grace period for late arrival.
How late arrival is handled depends on the nature of the session.
Beginner or instructional sessions#
If a beginner or instructional session has already started, the session may proceed without the late participant.
Where reasonably practicable, an instructor may provide a brief catch-up and allow the participant to join. The extent of any catch-up is at the instructor’s reasonable discretion and may necessarily be abbreviated to avoid disrupting the session for other participants.
Casual play#
Participants arriving late for casual play may be required to wait until a suitable seat becomes available through the normal table, queue or rotation process.
Late arrival does not automatically cancel admission unless the event-specific conditions provide otherwise.
7.5 Cancellation by the Club#
If 160 Tiles Club cancels an event and does not provide a reasonable replacement or rescheduled event, affected participants will ordinarily be offered an appropriate remedy, which may include a refund depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. EVENT CHANGES#
Mahjong events involve venues, participants, instructors, equipment and operational circumstances that may change.
Where reasonably necessary, we may change:
- table assignments;
- playing groups;
- instructors or facilitators;
- session schedules;
- event formats;
- rotation procedures;
- capacity;
- event areas within a venue; or
- other operational arrangements.
We will endeavour to communicate material changes where reasonably practicable.
If a material change substantially alters the service purchased by a participant, we will provide an appropriate remedy where required by applicable law or our published event conditions.
10. RULES OF PLAY#
Different Club activities may use different mahjong rulesets.
The ruleset identified for the relevant event, table, class or organised play session governs that activity.
Our Play Reference, event rules or briefing may specify matters including:
- permitted hands;
- scoring;
- point transfers;
- flowers and special tiles;
- dealer rules;
- winning conditions;
- table procedures;
- game or session structure;
- penalties or procedural consequences where applicable;
- tie-breaking where applicable; and
- dispute procedures.
These Terms do not replace the applicable rules of play.
Where a rule is clarified or updated, the Club may publish a revised ruleset for future play.
Material rules should not ordinarily be changed retrospectively after a completed game solely to alter its outcome.
11. SCORING, RESULTS AND DISPUTES#
Players are responsible for paying reasonable attention to the state of their game, hand declarations and recorded scores.
If you believe that a score, result or ruling is incorrect, raise the issue promptly with the designated table official, instructor, event organiser or other authorised Club representative.
The Club may:
- review the relevant game information;
- consult players or officials;
- correct genuine recording or calculation errors;
- apply the applicable ruleset;
- issue a ruling; and
- maintain a record of a correction where appropriate.
Where the Club records a game result or score, corrections should ordinarily be made through the Club’s recognised correction or review process.
12. RATINGS, RANKINGS AND PLAYER STATISTICS#
Where an event contributes to the Club’s competitive system, results may be used to calculate or maintain:
- ratings;
- rankings;
- match history;
- participation statistics;
- achievements;
- league standings; or
- similar competitive records.
Competitive records and gameplay points have no monetary value.
The Club may correct ratings or rankings where underlying results are corrected or where an error is discovered.
We may update rating or ranking methodologies prospectively as our competitive system develops.
Where rankings or competition results are publicly displayed, the information displayed and handling of personal data will be governed by our Privacy Policy and applicable event conditions.
If the Club introduces publicly displayed rankings or player profiles, participants will be given appropriate options regarding how their identity is displayed, which may include a real name, chosen display name or player handle.
Consent for the use of a participant’s identity, image or competitive achievements in promotional or marketing materials will be handled separately where appropriate.
13. CODE OF CONDUCT#
All participants must comply with the 160 Tiles Club Code of Conduct.
The Code of Conduct forms part of the conditions of participation in Club Events.
Among other things, participants are expected to:
- treat other participants, staff, volunteers, instructors and venue personnel respectfully;
- demonstrate good sportsmanship;
- avoid harassment, intimidation or threatening behaviour;
- respect reasonable boundaries;
- avoid deliberate disruption of games or events;
- follow reasonable safety and operational instructions;
- respect Club and venue property; and
- play honestly and in good faith.
Being competitive is welcome.
Being hostile, abusive or deliberately unpleasant to other participants is not.
14. ENFORCEMENT, REMOVAL AND REVIEW#
Where a participant breaches these Terms, the Code of Conduct, applicable play rules, venue rules or reasonable staff instructions, the Club may take proportionate action.
Depending on the seriousness and circumstances, this may include:
- a reminder or warning;
- correction of behaviour;
- table reassignment;
- removal from a particular game;
- removal from an event;
- temporary suspension from Club activities; or
- a longer-term or indefinite ban.
Serious misconduct may justify immediate removal without a prior warning.
Examples include violence, credible threats, serious harassment, deliberate cheating, payment fraud, gambling at a Club Event or conduct creating an immediate safety risk.
Longer-term suspensions or bans must be based on reasonable grounds.
14.1 Review of longer-term suspensions or bans#
A participant who receives a suspension of more than 30 days, or an indefinite ban, may request a review by writing to frontdesk@160tiles.com within 14 days of being notified of the decision.
The request should explain why the participant believes the decision should be reconsidered and may include relevant supporting information.
Where reasonably practicable, the review will be conducted by a Club representative who was not the sole decision-maker responsible for the original decision.
After considering the available information, the Club may uphold, reduce, modify or revoke the suspension or ban.
Requesting a review does not automatically suspend the original decision while the review is pending.
Removal from an event due to a participant’s serious misconduct does not automatically entitle that participant to a refund, subject to applicable law.
15. VENUE RULES#
Club Events may take place at hotels, cafés, restaurants, event spaces or other third-party venues.
Participants must comply with reasonable rules imposed by the venue.
A venue operator may independently exercise its own rights regarding access, service, safety and removal from its premises.
Where venue rules conflict with Club operational rules, Club staff will determine how the Club activity should proceed, subject to the venue operator’s lawful control of its premises.
16. ALCOHOL, INTOXICATION AND UNSAFE CONDUCT#
Where alcohol is available at a venue, participants remain responsible for their own consumption and conduct.
Participants must not behave in a manner that creates an unreasonable safety risk or materially disrupts the event.
The Club or venue may refuse continued participation to a person whose intoxication or conduct makes their participation unsafe or seriously disruptive.
17. FOOD, DRINK AND ALLERGIES#
Where food or beverages are supplied by a third-party venue or vendor, that provider may be responsible for preparation, ingredients and allergen information.
Participants with allergies or dietary requirements should make appropriate enquiries before consuming food or beverages.
Please notify the relevant venue or provider directly where necessary.
18. CLUB EQUIPMENT AND PROPERTY#
Please treat mahjong sets, tables, accessories, teaching materials, venue property and other equipment with reasonable care.
Participants may be responsible for loss or damage deliberately or recklessly caused by them, subject to applicable law.
Normal wear and tear arising from ordinary play is not considered participant damage.
19. PERSONAL BELONGINGS#
Participants are responsible for taking reasonable care of their personal belongings.
If you lose an item at an event, contact us or the venue as soon as reasonably possible.
We cannot guarantee that lost or unattended items will be recovered.
Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
20. PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO AND EVENT MEDIA#
Club Events may occasionally be photographed or recorded for event documentation, community updates or promotional purposes.
Where event photography or recording is planned, we may provide notices at registration, at the venue or through other reasonable means.
Participants who reasonably wish to avoid being identifiable in promotional photography or video should make this known to a Club staff member.
Where operationally feasible, we will take reasonable steps to accommodate that preference.
Where identifiable portraits, participant testimonials or similar material are intended for substantial promotional use, we may seek separate consent where appropriate.
Livestreamed or substantially recorded events may have additional event-specific media conditions communicated before registration or participation.
Nothing in this section constitutes unlimited consent for the Club to use a participant’s likeness for every future purpose.
21. PERSONAL DATA AND PRIVACY#
We collect and process personal data in connection with registrations, payments, events, communications, Club administration and our online services.
Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.
Depending on the service used, information may include:
- contact and registration details;
- booking information;
- payment status;
- payment evidence;
- attendance information;
- competition results;
- ratings or rankings;
- communications with the Club; and
- technical information relating to use of our website.
Payment receipts and similar payment evidence may contain sensitive financial or personal information and will not be treated as public event media.
Access to such records should be restricted to authorised persons and systems as reasonably necessary for administration, verification, accounting, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
Marketing communications requiring consent will be handled separately from communications reasonably necessary to administer your booking or participation.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information.
22. WEBSITE AND PLATFORM USE#
You must not misuse Club websites, registration systems or other digital services.
In particular, you must not knowingly:
- attempt unauthorised access to systems or accounts;
- interfere with normal operation of our services;
- upload malicious software;
- exploit vulnerabilities;
- submit fraudulent registrations or payment information;
- scrape or harvest personal information without authorisation;
- circumvent access or capacity controls; or
- use Club systems for unlawful purposes.
Security vulnerabilities should be reported privately to:
23. MEMBER ACCOUNTS#
Where the Club offers participant or member accounts, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
Accounts are personal unless expressly stated otherwise.
You must not knowingly allow another person to impersonate you through your account, particularly in connection with bookings, attendance, event eligibility or other Club records.
We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to investigate account misuse, fraud, security incidents or serious breaches of these Terms.
24. COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION#
Club Events exist primarily for mahjong and community participation.
Unless authorised by 160 Tiles Club, participants must not use Club Events, participant information or official Club channels primarily to solicit or advertise commercial services, competing events, gambling activities, financial schemes or other unrelated commercial activities.
Ordinary social conversation, networking and friendships formed through Club activities are welcome.
What is not permitted is using access to Club Events, participants or official Club channels primarily as an unsolicited commercial sales or recruitment opportunity.
25. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES#
Our services may interact with third-party services such as:
- payment providers or banking services;
- venue operators;
- communication platforms;
- analytics services;
- hosting providers;
- registration or ticketing services; and
- other technology providers.
Third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
We are not responsible for failures entirely outside our reasonable control, but this does not affect rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
26. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY#
Unless otherwise stated, the Club’s branding, logos, website content, original teaching materials, Play Reference materials, scoring guides, graphics and other original materials are owned by or licensed to 160 Tiles Club.
You may use materials we make available for personal participation and learning in the manner reasonably intended.
You must not reproduce, sell, commercially distribute or falsely present Club materials as your own without permission, except where applicable law permits otherwise.
The underlying game of mahjong, generally known game concepts, and material belonging to third parties are not claimed by the Club merely because they are discussed or referenced in our materials.
27. PRIZES AND PROMOTIONS#
Where a competition, promotion or event includes prizes, additional published terms may apply.
Those terms may specify:
- eligibility;
- competition format;
- prize description;
- tie-breaking procedures;
- disqualification grounds;
- fulfilment arrangements; and
- other conditions.
Gameplay points and rankings are not themselves redeemable for money or prizes unless an expressly published competition mechanism lawfully provides otherwise.
Any prize offered by the Club or a sponsor is separate from participant-to-participant wagering.
29. HEALTH, SAFETY AND EMERGENCIES#
Participants must follow reasonable safety instructions from Club staff and venue personnel.
We may pause, relocate, modify or end an activity where reasonably necessary to address:
- an emergency;
- unsafe conditions;
- venue instructions;
- equipment failure;
- severe disruption; or
- circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If you become aware of an immediate hazard during an event, please notify staff.
30. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL#
Occasionally, events may be disrupted by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including venue closures, serious transport disruption, severe weather, emergencies, government restrictions, utility or infrastructure failures, or similar events.
Where this happens, we may cancel, postpone, relocate or modify the affected event.
We will communicate with affected participants as reasonably practicable and provide any refund, rescheduling option or other remedy required by applicable law and the applicable booking conditions.
31. LIABILITY#
Participants attend and participate in Club activities subject to the ordinary risks associated with attending public events and playing tabletop games.
To the extent permitted by law, 160 Tiles Club will not be responsible for losses caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control or by a participant’s own unlawful, reckless or intentional conduct.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any liability, consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
32. SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION OF ACCESS#
We may suspend or terminate a person’s access to Club services or activities where reasonably necessary because of:
- serious or repeated breaches of these Terms;
- serious or repeated breaches of the Code of Conduct;
- deliberate cheating, collusion or manipulation of Club gameplay or records;
- gambling at Club Events;
- payment fraud;
- threats or serious harassment;
- serious safety concerns;
- misuse of Club systems; or
- other serious conduct materially affecting the Club or its participants.
Where appropriate, we may impose conditions before permitting future participation.
We will ordinarily provide notice of longer-term suspensions or bans unless doing so would create a safety, security or legal concern.
Any applicable right to request a review is set out in Section 15.1.
33. COMPLAINTS AND REVIEWS#
If you believe that we have made an error concerning a booking, payment, event decision or other Club service, please contact:
Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant booking, event or incident.
Gameplay rulings and disciplinary decisions may have separate review procedures where stated in the applicable play rules or Code of Conduct.
We encourage participants to raise problems promptly so that they can be investigated while relevant information is still available.
34. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS#
We may update these Terms as the Club and its services develop.
The current version will display its effective date or last-updated date.
Material changes will apply prospectively unless a change is required by law or is necessary to address an urgent safety, security or integrity issue.
Where appropriate, bookings already made will remain governed by the material booking terms presented when the booking was made.
35. SEVERABILITY#
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
36. NO WAIVER#
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms in a particular situation, that does not necessarily mean that we waive the right to enforce it in the future.
37. GOVERNING LAW#
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from exercising any right or remedy available under applicable Malaysian law.
38. CONTACT US#

Future Services and Changes to These Terms#
160 Tiles Club may introduce additional services, event formats or features in the future, including organised competitions, tournaments, leagues, ratings, rankings, prizes or other forms of structured competitive play. These services are not offered under these Terms unless expressly stated otherwise.
If we introduce a service that requires additional or materially different terms, rules or participant obligations, we may update these Terms or publish separate terms, rules or policies applicable to that service.

END OF TERMS
